Singer/Songwriter Amy Young has three decades of music experience in her back pocket. Hailing from West Michigan, music has accompanied every changing season, and her songwriting is a response to the unpredictable adventure that is life. From songs that are toe-tapping to careful and contemplative she aims to evoke emotion and remind us all of our commonalities. She builds upon an acoustic foundation with a diverse range of stylings including folk, country, pop and jazz. Timeless lyrical workmanship is showcased throughout her collection of songs, tackling topics like social justice, longing, and love. Young has performed original music since 1995 as a solo act, and with the groups Out of the Desert and Amy Young and Friends. She accompanies her voice with guitar, piano and uke, and whether performing solo or with her sidekicks, Daves at 7, she is a musician not to be missed!
“I write to process. I write to relate. The lyrics and feelings behind the music bring us together. Our stories may be different but how our stories impact us through celebration or suffering is common humanity, it's connection.
We all need connection”.
Comprised of Amy Young (vocals, guitar, piano, uke), Dave DeVos (bass), Paul Ouwinga (guitar), Nick Zourdos (drums) and Em Willow (vocals).
Fused by friendship and a steadfast musical trust in one another, the diverse cast of musicians shines individually and collectively. Whether onstage or in-studio, an inviting chemistry is present.
This group came to fruition in 2014 around longtime collaborators Young and DeVos. The band’s name, adopted in 2018, is an ode to the many evenings spent refining their sound and musical vision at bassist Dave DeVos’ home studio. The collective has performed across West Michigan at various venues and festivals, and continues to write, record, and maintain an active show schedule.
