Wright McCargar received his bachelor’s degree in
music education from Michigan State University and the
Recording Institute of America. He taught instrumental
music at the high school level from 1977 to 1982. Since
1982 he has dedicated his time to freelance arranging,
performing and conducting for commercials, theaters,
and musical groups.

Wright is entering his twentieth season as the musical
director and conductor for the Grand Rapids Civic
Theatre, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has also directed
for Community Circle Theater, Actor’s Theater, Hope
Repertory Theater, and Robeson Players. During the
summer he is guest conductor for Muskegon’s Cherry
County Playhouse and Saugatuck’s Mason Street
Warehouse. He has done master classes in musical
direction for the Community Theater Association of
Michigan and was guest clinician for the American
Association of Community Theaters’ national
convention.

Wright is currently an elementary music teacher for the
Grand Rapids Public Schools.
