I started singing as a young girl in the small country church my family attended throughout my childhood. Music turned into one of my short lived majors at Western Michigan University but I couldn't reconcile a degree in voice and starting a family in Michigan, so Social Work happened. Fortunately, life revealed that the music can be a part of everything else, which is where the songs come from. I write to process. I write to relate. Mix this in with an indie/folk, oh sometimes pop, don't forget country, and throw in a bit of jazz sound, and there you have it.
Dave's@7 offers folk/pop acoustic driven original tunes with a few covers thrown in. Band members include Dave DeVos on a slick stand-up bass he likes to call "Leonard", Paul Ouwinga going crazy on guitar, Fritz VonValtier on his drum set-like contraptions, and Leah Postema's swweeet back-up vocals. This is one talented, creative, motley crew, and bonus, you never know when a guest musician might pop in to play on tune!
You'll find me singing from the American Songbook at local clubs, restaurants, and private events with various jazz ensemble talent.
